Interview with Tomáš Vondráček, CEO of ACTUM Digital

Tomáš Vondráček, CEO of ACTUM Digital, shares his perspective on why this isn't just another system implementation, but a fundamental shift in how we operate and deliver value. Q1: What led ACTUM Digital to choose SAP S/4HANA Cloud and take on this ambitious implementation project?

A few years ago, we made the strategic decision to prioritize business growth and people development over operational infrastructure. We were aware this approach wasn't sustainable long-term, as we were struggling with operational inefficiencies, information gaps, and unclear processes across multiple areas. Our vision was to leapfrog several technology cycles and, once we had achieved sufficient growth and established a long-term direction, address our technology debt more effectively. That moment has now arrived. We've matured in our SAP Public Cloud journey while SAP has simultaneously developed a cloud solution that perfectly addresses both our current needs and future requirements.

Q2: Are there any success stories or previous SAP implementations that influenced your approach to this project?

Our SAP team has a strong track record of successful Public Cloud implementations, including projects for clients like Škoda and BeLenka, which gave us confidence in our ability to manage this project effectively for ourselves and our sister agency WMC/GREY. The final decision came after spending two days at Walldorf exploring the Professional Services version of the product and confirming that SAP, through its global implementation for PwC, had developed a solution that closely aligned with most of our business requirements and processes.

Q3: Many businesses hesitate to undergo enterprise-level transformations. What convinced you that now was the right time for ACTUM Digital?

We're currently in a phase of rapid expansion, growing at 30% annually, opening new branches, and acquiring competitors. The lack of a comprehensive information system has become a significant bottleneck for us. It's worth noting that the Public Cloud version makes the solution relatively accessible even for mid-sized organizations like ours. Personally, I'm most excited about simplifying our inter-company and inter-division financial processes, and gaining the ability to monitor various financial and business metrics across entities and divisions.

Q4: Looking beyond internal benefits, how do you see this transformation impacting your clients and the services you offer them?

Well, we might be able to send invoices to our clients a few days earlier! But in all seriousness, every minute our team doesn't have to spend on repetitive administrative tasks can be redirected toward delivering more value and more efficient work for our clients.
