Pascal Strnad: Leading ACTUM Digital’s Swiss Expansion - Interview
Meet Pascal Strnad, ACTUM Digital’s new Managing Director for Switzerland.
With a passion for impactful digital transformation, Pascal shares why he joined Actum, his plans for growth, and the fresh approach he’s bringing to the Swiss market.
Q: Pascal, welcome to ACTUM Digital! Why did you choose to join our team?
A: Thank you! I'm excited to be part of Actum. As you’d expect, there was more than just one reason. Identifying with the company's mission was a big part of it. The goals and values that Actum upholds align closely with my own beliefs about driving meaningful digital transformation.
Equally important was that I felt a genuine personal connection with the leadership team. People make the difference. Working with colleagues who share my passion and with whom I have good chemistry makes a big difference for me. All these aspects together made me feel that Actum is the right place to contribute my experience and make a positive impact.
Q: So, what are your plans for ACTUM Digital in Switzerland?
A: Together with Mark Franz, our Business Development Manager who also joined recently, my primary goal is to expand our presence in Switzerland by offering the right portfolio of services tailored to our clients, particularly in the manufacturing industry.
We've already had successful collaborations with well-known Swiss companies, yet our ambitions are higher. As we speak, there are several major projects under discussion, which demonstrate that we are building momentum and trust in the local market.
Q: Why is digitalization so important for manufacturing companies today?
A: Great question. Digitalization is indeed absolutely vital for manufacturing now. It's not just about automating processes or Industry 4.0; it's about transforming the entire business model to be more agile, efficient, and customer-centric.
According to recent data from Statista, the global B2B e-commerce market is projected to reach over $20 trillion by 2027, with manufacturing playing a significant role in this growth. Customers now expect a seamless digital experience, and in B2B contexts, this experience is increasingly mirroring B2C standards.
Implementing advanced CRM and ERP cloud systems and enhancing digital platforms allow manufacturers to provide personalized experiences, streamline supply chains, and make data-driven decisions. Digitalization enables better forecasting, reduces time-to-market, and opens up new revenue streams through online channels.
In essence, it's a critical factor for manufacturers aiming to maintain a competitive edge, adapt to market changes swiftly, and drive long-term growth.
Q: Can you be specific about the services ACTUM Digital wants to focus on in Switzerland?
A: Absolutely. We focus on implementing enterprise platforms such as the SAP cloud portfolio, including ERP and CX solutions, Salesforce Clouds, and Microsoft Dynamics 365. The second pillar is delivering a comprehensive digital experience. There, we partner with a number of tech leaders such as Sitecore, Bloomreach, Kentico, or Adobe.
With these two pillars and our consultancy capabilities, we're able to offer clients a holistic approach to digital transformation. Our services include strategic advisory, robust implementation to ensure technologies are deployed effectively, and ongoing support to maximize return on investment.
We want to be a one-stop partner for our clients, enabling them to exploit the full potential of their digital investments.
Q: What makes ACTUM Digital unique?
A: What sets Actum apart is our deep industry expertise combined with technological excellence across multiple platforms. We have a broad understanding of industries like manufacturing, but also wholesale, retail, finance and others which allows us to tailor solutions that address specific challenges our clients face.
Our partnerships with leading technology providers grant us access to cutting-edge tools, and our strong implementation and integration capabilities ensure that we can execute complex projects effectively.
We offer end-to-end digital transformation services, starting with strategic advisory, followed by hands-on implementation and continuous support. Our approach is client-centric. We build long-term partnerships, get to understand our clients and adapt our services to meet their evolving needs.
Lastly, our local presence in key locations - besides Switzerland, it is Germany, Netherlands, Slovakia and of course, Prague greatly enhances collaboration and understanding of regional market nuances. Not everyone can offer such a strong combo.
Q: What are your long-term goals for yourself and ACTUM Digital?
A: My long-term goal is to establish Actum as the go-to leader in digital transformation for mid-sized companies in Switzerland. I want to build strong, lasting relationships with our clients.
Personally, I would like to foster a culture of innovation and excellence within our growing team, encouraging continuous learning and adaptability. This is a prerequisite for consistent delivery of value to clients.
And we should not forget trust. Trust is the ultimate currency which we want to role model in Switzerland as trusted advisors for our customers, partners and employees.
Q: On a more personal note, what drives you professionally?
A: What really drives me is seeing the tangible impact our work has on our clients' businesses. In the digital world, that's not always guaranteed, so ensuring that digitalization brings real results motivates me. When I reflect on my career, perseverance has always been key—believing in the goal and pushing through obstacles.
I also genuinely enjoy working with diverse, multicultural teams. At the end of the day, knowing I've contributed to a team's success and helped clients achieve their objectives is incredibly fulfilling.
Q: Can you share a hobby or interest that you're passionate about?
A: I have a deep appreciation for the outdoors, and living in Switzerland provides endless opportunities to explore nature. I love inline skating. It’s a wonderful way to disconnect from the daily grind, reflect, and recharge my batteries. Being in nature helps me gain new perspectives that I often bring back into my professional life.
I also enjoy going to the gym and reading books on leadership. They not only provide valuable insights but also inspire me to think differently and continuously improve.
Q: Lastly, what is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring leaders in the tech industry?
A: Stay curious and embrace lifelong learning. The tech industry is one of constant evolution, and keeping up with the latest trends and developments is essential.
Also, never underestimate the power of relationships, mentoring and effective communication. Success in this industry often comes from collaborating with others and understanding the diverse perspectives within your team. Building strong relationships can open doors to new opportunities and foster an environment where innovation thrives.
We're delighted to have Pascal leading our Swiss operations and are confident that his expertise and vision will drive ACTUM Digital to new heights in the region. Welcome aboard, Pascal!
